Installation of this first phase is expected to be completed before September.

The Travado IBUS(tm) system selected for Gilbert School District buses features an onboard digital video recording unit; GPS for recording bus speed and location; Wi-Fi wireless communications to transfer video and data to a base station located in the bus parking facility; tamper-resistant low-light and infrared cameras; secure, easy-to-use software; a trigger button so the driver can automatically record any special incident with time and location; and the ability to record bus functions, such as brakes, turn signals, hazards, amber and red overheads/stop arm, and parking brake. The system also provides diagnostics. Video and data are automatically downloaded, eliminating the need to go out to the bus to collect the information.
